REGAL Masters and Regal All-Stars are preparing for battle in the annual Florida Cup from April 12 to 14 and have completed a major fundraising event to help make their trip to the USA a little easier.
On Sunday, March 31 at the GNIC Sports Club ground, Woolford Avenue Georgetown, 10 tickets from the mega raffle were drawn as scheduled. The raffle was launched in January with tickets going at $500 each with 10 fabulous prizes up for grabs including the top prize of a double-door refrigerator.
The draw was conducted by cricket commentator John Ramsingh, in the presence of players from Regal Masters, Wellman Masters, Fisherman Masters and President’s XI Masters as well as softball cricket fans.
Some braved the hot sun and waited in anticipation for their numbers to be pulled. Despite not getting their expected rewards some felt pleased to support the defending Florida Cup champions in their bid to bring back glory.
The touring party is expected to number about 40 persons, including players in the All Stars and Masters as well as support staff. The funds raised will be used for airfare to and from Florida, transportation, accommodation and food while on tour.
This year, 28 teams will be in action across All-Stars, Masters Over-40 and Legends Over-50 categories. Regal All Stars and Regal Masters won their respective titles when the tournament was last held there in 2017.
The following tickets were drawn for the respective prizes;
