A motorcyclist was killed Sunday evening on the Soesdyke Public Road, East Bank Demerara (EBD) after crashing into a vehicle.

Dead is Collin Bourne, 22, of lot 91 Timehri Prison Area, EBD. The Cheddi Jagan International Airport employee lost his life after colliding with a minibus.
On March, 24, 2019, fifty-year-old Peter Billison of Lot 17, Soesdyke Public Road, EBD was also killed in a hit-and-run accident on the Soesdyke, EBD Public Road.

Police confirmed that they are investigating the fatal accident involving minibuses PHH 3467, BVV 5802 and motorcycle CH 6758 driven by Bourne. Enquiries disclosed that minibus PHH 3467 was proceeding south along the eastern carriageway, reportedly at a fast rate of speed, whilst minibus BVV 5802 and motorcycle CH 6758 were proceeding in the opposite direction with the motorcyclist in the rear.

The motorcycle then proceeded to overtake minibus BVV 5802 and, while on the eastern carriageway, collided with minibus PHH 3467. As a result of the impact, the cyclist fell onto the western carriageway in the path of BVV 5802 and was struck down. He was picked up in an unconscious condition and rushed to the East Bank Demerara Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The body is presently at the Lyken’s Funeral Parlour awaiting a post-mortem examination. The drivers are in custody assisting with the investigation. They were breathalysed and the driver of PHH 3467 was found above the legal limit
