MELISSA Roberts, better known as ‘Vanilla’, is the newest Road March Queen, after her song, “One Voice”, was mostly played on Mashramani Day (February 23, 2019) during the annual float parade.

Roberts told ‘the Buzz Magazine’ that she feels elated and is very pleased with the outcome, having received the prize of $400,000 and a trophy during the prize-giving ceremony at the National Cultural Centre (NCC) recently.

She related that her song, “One Voice”, was birthed when her song writer, Burchmore Simon came up with the lyrics and she voiced it, thus creating the song which was a big hit for Mashramani 2019.

Following the release of that song, a video was then compiled, and it, too, had good reviews, and is much liked by its target audience.

Roberts told the Buzz Magazine that “One Voice” was also played at the Carib Soca Monarch 2019 Competition, and the response has been rewarding so far.

This budding local artiste disclosed that she will be releasing a new song titled, “Hold It Up”, which is about developing a positive mindset, on the local airwaves, 98.1FM on Phagwah Day (which was yesterday), at 16:00hrs.

She said she is also in the process of making the video for “Hold It Up”, and that it will be released soon.

The spritely songbird is of the view that she will reach the pinnacle of her success with the support of her fans.
