GEORGETOWN played unbeaten to capture the Demerara Cricket Board (DCC) Inter-Association Under-15 title, winning their third and final game against East Bank Demerara at the Everest Cricket Club (ECC) ground, yesterday.

The city side whipped West Demerara and East Coast by nine and seven wickets respectively in their two previous rounds before thrashing a spirited East Bank Demerara team by ten wickets.

Winning the toss and deciding to bowl, the city side’s bowlers produced an excellent effort and restricted their opponents to just 78 in 29.4 overs.

Off-spinners Shaquan Walters (3-1) and Krsna Singh (2-10) shared five wickets.

West Indies Under-16 batsman, Mavendra Dindyal, struck seven fours and a six in an entertaining 46 but he failed to get support from the other end.

Off-spinners Shaquan Walters (3-1) and Krsna Singh (2-10) shared five wickets between them while seamers Avinash Rajkumar and Dillon Ramsaroop claimed 2-20 and 1-31 respectively. Leg-spinner Riyad Latif chipped in with 1-9.

At the start of play, East Bank lost opener Navindra Singh, without scoring, to the fourth ball, bowled by Ramsaroop before they slipped further at 24-3, losing the wickets of Thaddeous Lovell (3) and Zachary Jodah also without scoring. Both wickets fell to Rajkumar.

By then a rebuilding job was required but the right-hander, Dindyal, could not single-handedly manage the pressure, and was dismissed at 54-4. East Bank, who had won their two previous games against East Coast and West Demerara, lost their last six wickets for 24 runs.

Riding high on extraordinary bowling performance, the city side openers Jaden Campbell and Romeo Deonarine then took further control of the game.

The pair achieved the target, reaching 80 in 22.3 overs. Campbell was unbeaten on 35 while Deonarine was on 26.

Meanwhile, in the other game, East Coast Demerara beat West Demerara by three wickets. Scores; West Demerara 80-9, ECD in reply reached 81-7.
