A PEDAL cyclist, who was on his way home, was struck down by a motorcyclist along the busy Mandela Avenue thoroughfare on Tuesday night.

According to reports, Marlon Abrams, who is said to be in his 50s, was heading to Sophia around 19:30hrs when the accident occurred.

An eyewitness told the Guyana Chronicle that the man was riding across the roadway from Meadowbrook Drive, when he collided with a motorcyclist who was heading along Mandela Avenue.

The injured man sustained injuries to his head, hands and feet. A doctor who was passing by stopped to attend to him, while passersby rendered support. The man’s bicycle wheels were damaged, while the motorcyclist escaped unhurt.

Police subsequently arrived at the scene while an ambulance took the injured man to the hospital.
