… Winners Connection clash with Net Rockers, champions Botofago face Eagles United

THE semi-finals for the sixth GT Beer Football championship have been decided. The reigning champions Botofago and Eagles United will clash in the night cap today from 21:00hrs after Haynes & Lewis’ Winners Connection collide with Net Rockers at 19:00hrs.
On Boxing Night, Eagles United triumphed 6-3 over Hi Stars behind a hat-trick from the boot of Sheldron Holder and a double by Colwyn Drakes with the other coming from Randolph Lewis.

But the result saw both Capital FC and Eagles United on similar points after playing in their group of three. The tie-breaker was required after both teams had played to a 0-0 stalemate. Capital FC had won 3-0 over Hi Stars but Eagles 6-3 win allowed them a higher goal tally although the two teams were knotted on goal difference.
The fact that Eagles United had scored six to Capital FC’s three facilitated their advance over Capital FC.

In the other group game on Boxing Night Botofago won 2-1 against Topp XX with Donovan Francis netting the two goals for Botofago in the 10th and 21st minutes of play.
It is now left for the showdown with the final four tonight.

In the second game tonight from 21:00hrs Eagles United, the number one-ranked club having won the recent league tournament, are up against the reigning champions of the GT Beer, Botofago.

Eagles have in their lineup guest player Sheldron Holder who showed he was in fine form along with Colwyn Drakes; but their defending has been suspect at least in their most recent showing against Hi Stars.

They will have to be more organised when they face Botofago who will also have among their players the Haynes brothers Jamal and Daniel and the returning Jashawn Moore.
In the first game from 19:00hrs, Net Rockers, with Kellon Primo and Denzil Pryce in front, and brothers Orande and Moeion Wills, will have the understanding that they must be at their best when they face Winners Connection, who can be tough in these circumstances, having won this title before.

But Net Rockers will not take their recent form for granted and will be confident that they can get past Winners Connection to have a chance of lifting this year-end crown by reaching the final.
