–for murder of young Linden footballer

A 22-year-old was on Monday charged for the murder of young Linden footballer, Leonard Peters, also known as “Lenny”.

Michael Emmanuel, of West Watooka, Linden was not required to plead to the indictable charge, after he appeared before Magistrate Dylan Bess at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

The particulars of the charge state that on December 21, 2018 at West Watooka, Emmanuel murdered Peters.
He was remanded to prison, and is expected to make his next court appearance on January 8, 2019.

According to reports, there was a social event on Friday night in West Watooka, where a misunderstanding developed between the victim and two men, one of whom was the accused, around 22:00hrs.

It is alleged that the victim accidentally spilled alcohol on one of the two suspects, and this subsequently resulted in a physical confrontation.

Following the confrontation, Peters, 21, was observed bleeding from a wound in the region of his heart and was rushed to the Linden Hospital Complex, where he reportedly died whilst receiving medical attention.
