VICTORIA Kings came from behind to beat Buxton Stars 2 – 1, while Ann’s Grove United were 3 – 0 winners over Soesdyke Falcons, when the Guyana Football Federation/STAG Beer ‘Super 16’ tournament continued on Saturday at the Golden Grove ground.
Playing in the opening game of the night’s double-header, Phillip Williams scored in the 16th minute to give Ann’s Grove a 1 – 0 lead at the end of the first half and in the second stanza, the eventual winners pressed on the gas, resulting in Quincy Barry (53rd) and Ryan Sears (63rd) finding the back of the net.
Meanwhile, in the ‘East Coast Derby’, Victoria Kings came from a goal down after Buxton Stars had taken the lead in the 42nd minute through Eon Abel, to completely dominate.
Quinsi Holder scored his first of two goals in the 52nd minute and then completed his double two minutes later, to hand the Victoria-based team three points.
The tournament continued last evening at the Leonora Track and Field Centre with Milerock up against Eagles FC, and Den Amstel against Santos.
