THE police have received legal advice not to charge HGP Nightly News anchor Travis Chase for shooting a Kitty resident to his leg with his licensed firearm after the man allegedly threw bottles at his car.

Jimmy Ramgobin

Chase reportedly shot Jimmy Ramgobin, 28, of Sandy Babb Street, Kitty, in self defence on the night of December 1, 2018 outside his girlfriend’s home on DeAbreu Street, Newtown.
According to the police, Chase alleged that on pulling up in his vehicle with his girlfriend outside her home, he saw Ramgobin loitering there. The newsman reportedly told the police that upon exiting his vehicle and approaching Ramgobin, the latter began hurling bottles at him from a bag he was carrying, causing him to take evasive action by pulling out his firearm and discharging a round at Ramgobin.

However, the police have received advice to charge Jimmy Ramgobin with the offence of “Throwing missiles on a public way to the annoyance or danger of any person.” He is expected to be placed before the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court soon.
