A KITTY resident who was last Sunday shot in the leg by HGP Nightly News anchor, Travis Chase is calling for justice, and the police to come clean with their investigation.
Jimmy Ramgobin, 28, of Sandy Babb Street, Kitty was shot by Chase, a licensed firearm holder, on the night of Monday December 3, 2018 outside the latter’s girlfriend’s home on DeAbreu Street, Newtown.

HGP Nightly News’ Travis Chase

According to the police, Chase alleged that on pulling up in his vehicle with his girlfriend outside her home, he saw Ramgobin loitering there.
The newsman reportedly told the police that upon exiting his vehicle and approaching Ramgobin, the latter allegedly began hurling bottles at him from a bag he was carrying, causing him to have to pull out his weapon and discharge a round at him.
Following the incident, Chase would later write on his Facebook page:

“There was an incident where I was attacked by a man who marked my vehicle and I defended myself. The police are handling the investigation.”
But when the Guyana Chronicle spoke with Ramgobin following his release from the hospital, the injured man gave a totally different version of the story.
He explained that he was intoxicated and fell asleep on the roadway in front of Chase’s girlfriend’s yard.

The gunshot wound Jimmy Ramgobin sustained

“In my sleep, I felt a person kicking me in my ribs,” he said. “And when I open my eye and look up, this person had a gun in their hand. I felt frighten, and I get up and run,” Ramgobin said.
He said that it was as he was running away that Chase opened fire on him. “When I meet by Garnett Street, Kitty,” Ramgobin said, “I feel a burning behind my foot and I stop and feel; is then I saw a set of blood on my hand.”

As regards the alleged throwing of bottles as Chase claimed, Ramgobin said he did no such thing. “I did not shy Travis! I had no time to take any bottle to shy Travis! It is insane for me to pick up a bottle to shy at a man when he shooting at me!”

Ramgobin is claiming that he was shot innocently, and that he did nothing to warrant it.
“I want justice! I’m not looking for compensation!” he said.
