Man remanded for ganja possession

A 26- year-old man was on Wednesday remanded to prison for allegedly having in his possession 76 grams of Marijuana.

Peter Patterson, an operator appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and denied the charge.

The charge states, that on November 10, 2018 at Linden-Soesdyke Highway, Patterson had in his possession 17 grams of Marijuana for the purpose of trafficking. Police Prosecutor Arvin Moore objected to bail owing to the seriousness of the offence and the penalty it attracts.

According to the facts of the case, on the day in question police had set up a road block along Linden-Soesdyke Highway. When the vehicle which the defendant was in was stopped and a searched the suspected Marijuana was found.

Bail was refused by the magistrate and Patterson was remanded to prison until November 21, 2018.
