Cops burn ganja farm,camp in Essequibo

POLICE in Essequibo on Friday destroyed a farm with a quantity of cannabis at the Onderneeming Sand Pit area.

The raid was done between 11:00hrs and 15:00hrs. Police said acting on information, a group of policemen went to Onderneeming Sand Pit backlands, Essequibo Coast. On arrival, they discovered about half an acre of marijuana farm cultivated with approximately 600 cannabis plants measuring from five inches to six feet in height.

The plants weighed approximately 25 kg along with a quantity of dry cannabis estimated weight 2kg. There was a makeshift camp with three hammocks, kitchen utensils, clothing, groceries and farming tools. All were set on fire by the police, no arrests were made.
