A CASH crop farmer from the Island of Wakenaam, Region Three, tragically lost his life after he was bitten by a snake in the backdam.
According to information, the farmer went early Thursday morning to the backdam when he was attacked by a snake, suspected to be a Labaria.
Dead is Jaichand, aka Guana. He died while receiving treatment at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation Thursday evening.
According to a close friend, after being bitten, Jaichand was immediately rushed to the GPHC but doctors could not save his life due to the lack of anti-venom medications. The friend said that they were told that the hospital does not have the drug and it has to be sourced from Brazil.
The farmer’s body is presently at the GPHC awaiting a post-mortem examination. The elderly man has left to mourn his wife and children.
