EMERY Welshman and Sheldon Holder both scored a hat-trick of goals in Guyana’s 8-0 victory over Turks and Caicos to record their first win in the CONCACAF Nations League.
Playing at the Turks and Caicos National Academy, Holder, after scoring the game’s opening goal in the seventh minute, completed his hat-trick when he found the net in the 37th and 45th minutes.
Welshman netted in the 20th, 69th minutes and an 82nd-minute penalty saw the US-based forward complete his first international hat-trick.
Trayon Bobb (45th minute) and Kadell Daniels (75th minute) contributed the other two goals for coach Michael Johnson’s side in a complete dominating performance.
While Guyana (182), played to a 2-2 come-from-behind draw against Barbados at home, Turks and Caicos (210) were hammered 11-0 by Cuba when they travelled to Havana for their first game in the CONCACAF tournament.
This was the first away match for the Golden Jaguars as they seek to qualify for the CONCACAF Gold Cup. French Guiana will host Guyana on November 20, while Guyana will play their final qualifier against Belize in March 2019 at Leonora.
