AN Albouystown resident appeared Friday before a city magistrate charged with robbery with aggravation.

The charge alleged that Lennord Allicock on July 29,2018, at Hill Street, Albouystown, while being in the company of others, robbed Christopher Gonzales of four silver chains valued at $74,000 and at the time or immediately after the robbery, he used personal violence.
The 30-year-old man who works at Guyana Fisheries denied the charge that was read out to him in court by the magistrate.

The police prosecutor objected to bail on grounds that personal violence was used and the penalty the charge attracted.

According to the prosecution, the virtual complainant and the accused were known to each other and they both resided in the same village. On the night in question, the victim was ‘liming’ on Hill Street when the accused went up to him. They had a confrontation and as a result, Allicock dealt Gonzales a slap, bit him on his left ear, snatched the chains off his neck and made his escape.

The matter was reported and the accused was arrested.
Bail was refused by the Senior Magistrate Fabayo Azore and Allicock was remanded to prison until August 17, 2018.
