Jarrel Leander of Kingston, Georgetown, emerged the champion eater in a chicken competition organised by the local Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) franchise.
Leander won the first round of the competition two weeks ago and went up against Stephon Gabriel, who won the second round last week.
In this, the final round, the duo raced to finish a 15-piece bucket of chicken in 15 minutes at the KFC, Regent Street location. Both men cleared 14 pieces, Jarrel was adjudged the winner because he had managed to eat more of the chicken pieces than his competitor.
After winning, Leander said, “Today was very competitive,” and joked, “The man [Gabriel] could really eat.”

By eating his way past his competitor, the Kingston resident earned himself vouchers that can be used until the end of the year to get free KFC chicken buckets. And, he was dubbed ‘KFC King’ by Marketing Manager Livasti Bhooplall.
