Policeman Delon Alexander

In a statement, the Guyana Police Force said intensified, collaborative intelligence work by ranks of the Police Narcotics Branch and ‘C’ Division (East Coast Demerara), resulted in the arrest of 31-year-old Police Constable Delon Alexander, stationed at force headquarters. The policeman who was driving a vehicle that was Georgetown-bound was intercepted on Cove and John public road, ECD, about 09:00hrs. A search of the vehicle revealed several taped parcels of compressed cannabis, weighing in excess of 21kg.

Police sources said that prior to working at the Tactical Services Unit, the policeman worked in Berbice. He reportedly requested a transfer to the city as his wife, who is said to be a doctor, also relocated to Georgetown as her job required. During yesterday’s operation, he was the only occupant in the vehicle.
Investigation in progress.
