… Women second in their group
GUYANA Men’s team is on course to pick up another title at the Caribbean Area Squash Association (CASA) junior tournament being held in Jamaica.
The men go face to face with Bermuda today in the semifinal while the second semi-final will feature Trinidad and Tobago and top-seeded Barbados.
In Group B, the Guyanese are unbeaten having played three matches for a maximum of three points with a record of 13-2 matches, 37-10 games and 471-292 points.
The second-placed team in Group B were Trinidad who played three, but lost one to Guyana, while hosts Jamaica finished third with one point (1 win and 2 losses) and the Eastern States finished without a win or a point.
In Group A, the Barbadians topped with 2 points, Bermuda finished second with 1 point and the Cayman Islands failed to score.
Meanwhile, the females are second in their group behind Barbados and ahead of Trinidad and Tobago. The top three are unbeaten thus far in the round-robin competition and have two points but are behind Barbados on sets lost.
Barbados have a 10-0 record from their two games thus far with Guyana posting a 7-3, same as Trinidad, but beating them out on points for and against with 317-249 as against 297-223.
They are set to play today against Bermuda at 13:00hrs Jamaica time, and then tomorrow morning against Barbados to decide the head of the table. (ssookram@guyanachronicle.com)
