FIFTEEN-year-old Beyonce Ross, who is battling a brain tumor in the centre of her brain, was on Thursday rushed to the New Amsterdam Hospital in a critical state.

Relatives confirmed doctors related she is brain dead. She was subsequently transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) on Thursday afternoon where she remains on life support. Her drastic decline in health has family members confused and worried since they were told only two days ago that the tumor was not cancerous, after the result from the biopsy was returned.

Speaking with Guyana Chronicle, relatives related Ross suffered a seizure early Thursday morning and became unresponsive. She was rushed to the New Amsterdam Hospital where doctors related that she was not responding and was in a vegetative state. She was subsequently transferred to the GPHC where she is presently on life support.

Given her present condition, relatives are praying she can make a miraculous turnaround so she can leave the country for corrective surgery, as she has a promising future. Ross, a triple gold medalist and all round athlete, was diagnosed with a brain tumor in March of this year. Doctors had told relatives given the location of the tumor, surgery had to be performed overseas to have it removed since the operation is a high-risk one.

Family members have been seeking financial assistance to make arrangements for the surgery and breathed a sigh of relief on Monday evening when they were told the tumor was not cancerous. Ross was said to have been in good spirits and even showed signs of feeling better until things took a sudden turn on Thursday morning.
