FIRST LADY, Sandra Granger, paid a special visit to The Palms Geriatric Home as part of an initiative to treat the female residents in honour of Guyana’s 52nd Independence Anniversary celebrations.

The activity was made possible through a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Social Protection, the Women Across Differences (WAD) group and the Luminous Women group on Wednesday.

The women received gifts of personal care and beauty items from the First Lady and also from Minister of Social Protection, Amna Ally.
Additionally, the senior citizens were also treated to a ‘glam’ session done by the teenage mothers from WAD’s ‘Comprehensive Empowerment Move for Adolescent Mothers’ programme.

The teenage mothers were also graduates of First Lady’s ‘Care for the Elderly’ programme. The First Lady promised to return later in the year to treat the men at the home.
