A child who was involved in Sunday  afternoon’s accident at Kuru Kururu on the Linden/Soesdyke Highway succumbed to injuries she sustained.

Reports are that the child has been identified as Ariana Hughes and not  Jada Enmore as was stated earlier . Hughes  passed away while undergoing treatment for injuries she sustained during the accident.

Miscommunication between the Georgetown Public Hospital and the parents of Enmore resulted in the information breakdown.

The accident occurred along the Kuru Kururu area around 1730 hrs on Mother’s Day when a car bearing registration PMM 548 and which was driven by one Shenelle Hughes , slammed into another vehicle before careening into the path of a minibus , BHH 8451.

Rawle McKenzie, 39, who is said to be the driver of the minibus, was injured. The others who suffered injuries are Amaiya Persaud, Prem Persaud, Zenita Persaud, Wayne George, Gewan Persaud , Anthony, Ariana Persaud, Kimberly and Vian.

Most of the injured are said to be from the community of Kane Ville and were reportedly returning from a creek outing when the accident occurred.

The injured were first taken to the Diamond Hospital before they were transported to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation(GPHC).
