MORRIS Fernandes was found guilty of sexual activity with a child under the age of 16 years on Monday afternoon, in the Sexual Offences Court of the Georgetown High Court before Justice Jo-Ann Barlow.
The 12-member jury after deliberating for more than two hours arrived at a guilty verdict in the proportion of 10 to two, in the matter between the State verses Morris Fernandes for sexual activity with a child under 16 years old.
According to the indictment, between October 1 and 31, 2016 in the County of Demerara, the defendant engaged in sexual activity with a girl child under the age of 16.
However, sentencing was deferred to May 15, 2018 at 09:30hrs before the same judge after a request by defence attorney Everton Lammy-Singh. The judge granted the request for a probation report in favour of the convict to be prepared.
