A LABOURER was on Friday remanded to prison by Magistrate Leron Daly on a simple larceny charge.
It was alleged that between April 24 and 25, 2018 at New Market Street, Mohesh Sorju broke and entered the VJ Fashions building and stole one Del laptop worth $250, 000, one hard drive worth $ 40,000 and a headset valued at $8,000 property of Troy Bentic
The 26-year-old man pleaded not guilty to the charge.
According to the facts that were given in court by Prosecutor Sanj Singh, the accused is well known in the area for break and enter and larceny. He added that on the night in question, the virtual complainant secured his computer and other valuables in his office and went home. Upon his return he discovered that the lock broken and that the computer and other valuables were missing. A review of CCTU footage showed the accused entering the building, and he was arrested and taken to the police station.
Sorju was refused bail and remanded to prison until May 18, 2018 when he will make another court appearance.
