A 23- YEAR- OLD man was on Friday remanded to prison by Magistrate Leron Daly on a charge of robbery under arms.

Matthew Gasper is alleged to have on March 28, 2018 at Leopold and Breda Streets, while being in the company of others and armed with a gun, robbed Dennis Grant of two gold chains worth $1.8M and one Samsung cellphone worth $71, 000.

The accused who resides at Durban Backlands denied that he committed the act.
According to the court b prosecutor Sanj Singh, on the day in question the virtual complainant went to visit a friend in Leopold Street. While talking to the friend the defendant relieved him of the two chains and cellphone. The matter was reported Gasper was arrested after being positively identified.

Bail was refused and Gaspar was remanded to prison. He will return to court on May 25, 2018.
