A NURSE and a sales representative appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan, Thursday, charged with trafficking the drug called ‘Ecstasy’.

It was alleged that on April 23, 2018 at Regent Street, Bourda, Lonsdale Hope and Shellyann Gilgeous had 66 grammes of ‘Ecstasy’ in their possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Hope, 34, a sales representative and Gilgeous, who is a 27-year-old nurse, pleaded not guilty to the joint charge.
The couple’s attorney, Dexter Todd, asked for bail to be granted to his clients since the drug was not found in their possession and he also added that the police had no oral statements from either of his clients.

Police Prosecutor Gordon Mansfield objected to bail being granted due to the serious nature of the offence.

According to the facts given in court, acting on information received, ranks from the Police Narcotics Branch stopped motorcar PSS 2037 in which the couple were travelling.
In the back seat they reportedly found a woman’s handbag with the suspected drugs inside.

The prosecutor said that Gilgeous told the police ranks that Hope gave her the drugs to keep.
Bail was granted by the chief magistrate in the sum of $150,000 each and the matter was adjourned until May 28, 2018.
