Truck rams Victoria gas station

The  Guyoil gas station at Victoria on the East Coast Demerara was forced to close its operations early on Tuesday afternoon a low-bed truck  careened-off the road and slammed into a section of the outlet.

There are no reported cases of death or serious injury.

Reports are that the truck was proceeding west along the public road and the driver attempted to avoid hitting a minibus which was parked on the turn.

However ,the truck collided with the minibus and a car , a Toyota 212 causing extensive damage to both vehicles. Another car was also hit by the truck.

A woman’s “sweetie stand” was also destroyed by the truck while a section of the gas station’s building came crashing down.

Police later arrived at the scene to investigate the incident. (Leroy Smith)
