AA formally approaches ‘Civil Aviation’

–about servicing Guyana

AMERICAN Airlines (AA)has engaged the
Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) regarding procedures to operate commerical flights here.

GCAA Director-General Captain Egbert Field, told the Guyana Chronicle that the US-based carrier “initiated” contact with the authority on Friday, requesting information on how they can go about applying to operate here.
Noting that the relevant information has been relayed to airline representatives, Captain Field said:

“They now have to send us their information, and we’ll take it from there.”
AA’s wanting to come here is welcome news, given the limited airlift choices the Guyanese public has.

In March, AA announced that it was adding three new cities to its already long list of destinations, and that Georgetown was one of them.
The airline said it wants to commence flights between Guyana and Miami by the end of the year.
