Bacchus XI, Jaguars to battle for T20 supremacy

AN EXCITING climax is anticipated on Sunday when the indomitable Bacchus XI face the roaring Jaguars in the South and Central Committee-sponsored T20 final, at the Imam Bacchus ground in Affiance.

Hosts Bacchus XI will be banking on former national youth players Yogeshwar Lall, Latchman Rohit, Parmesh Parsotam and Nathan Persaud to bolster their strong batting line-up which will also include Wayne Osborne and Rovendra Parasram.
On the other side of the coin, Jaguars will heavily rely on former Essequibo senior inter-county opening batsman Norman Fredericks to lead the charge with stern support from Javed Azeez, Elton Bishop and Chandi Jairam.

Sixteen teams between South and Central Essequibo participated in the preliminary round of matches in the knock-out tournament which is being coordinated by Essequibo Cricket Board (ECB) executive member Ramnarine Raghoobar. The first ball will be bowled at 13:30hrs, with Wazeer Dhanraj and Deva Dass as the officiating umpires.

Cash incentives and trophies will be available for the winners and man-of-the-match, along with the batsman scoring the most runs and the bowler taking the most wickets in the tournament. Entry to the ground is free. (Elroy Stephney
