North West man crushed by falling tree

RODNEY Emilo La Rose, 46, of North West District (NWD) was reportedly crushed by a falling tree on Wednesday.

According to a police release, it is alleged that on Wednesday, around 15:15 hrs, La Rose and others were working on a pit in Kuribang Backdam, Region Seven, when the tragedy occurred.

He was reportedly clearing land above the pit while his colleagues were working in the pit when they heard him screaming in pain.
They immediately rushed to his assistance and observed a tree across his back. The tree was removed from him and he was taken to the Bartica Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The body of La Rose is at the New Memorial Garden Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem on Monday.
The pit is owned by Stephen Edwards, a dredge owner of 4th Avenue Bartica. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
