POLICE Commissioner (ag) David Ramnarine, along with divisional commanders, recently met with members of the Cops and Faith Community Network and police ranks across the country, who are charged with the efficient administration of the Learner Driver Theoretical and Practical Examinations processes.
Realising that there are issues, some seemingly burning, in respect to the Learner Driver Theoretical and Practical Examinations in certain areas of the entire process, Ramnarine noted that the much-needed meeting was a result of in-depth discussions over the learner-driver theory and practical examinations arising from a presentation made by the Head of Audit and Inspection where some irregularities were unearthed and which directly impacted on the integrity of the processes.
The meeting which was held in the Commissioner’s Conference Room was considered by all in attendance as timely and very much fruitful, since at its conclusion the Civil Body, whose work is voluntary, expressed their willingness to continue to serve and assist the Police Force in order to ensure that persons who are allowed to drive vehicles on the country’s roads are knowledgeable of the Road Traffic Rules and Regulations and are deserving of the appropriate licences for the categories of vehicles they wish to drive.
Also at the meeting were Crime Chief, Assistant Commissioner Paul Williams; Head Officer of Professional Responsibility (OPR) Mr Heeralall Makhanlall, Special Senior Superintendent and Head of Audit and Inspection Rohan Singh.
