THE Region Three(West Demerara-Essequibo Islands)Chamber of Commerce and Industry presented security cameras to the Commander of ‘D’ Division, Senior Superintendent Rishi Dass and his team on Friday to better monitor activities within the confines of the Leonora Police Station compound.

President of the Region Three chambers, Halim Khan said the good gesture will aid the commander and his team to better monitor the activities within the station confines, as the chambers is committed to supporting the police to ensure the region is safe and secure.
Khan said crime is less likely to occur in places where security cameras have been installed, since criminals prefer to hide from cameras to avoid being traced.

The chamber’ president believes that the mere sight of CCTV hardware can be a deterrent to negative behaviour in general, and CCTV recordings serve as reliable sources of evidence to unravel mysteries behind crime.

“We know what the police are doing to protect us and so in our own small way, we shall also contribute to the development of our police service and the country. We the citizens also have roles to play in ensuring that the nation is secured,” Khan said.
Commander Rishi Dass expressed his appreciation at the gesture to improve security.
