A CANAL Number Two West Bank Demerara boy was electrocuted on Sunday night after a power line fell on him during an errand.

Dead is Vivek Bridgemohan of Lot 18, Alliance, Canal Number Two, West Bank Demerara.
The teen’s father, Nizar Azeez told the Guyana Chronicle that his eldest son was returning from a shop around 19:00hrs on Sunday when the electrical wire fell on him. According to Azeez, his son attempted to remove the wires which fell on his neck. He said he took the young man to the hospital but the teen succumbed during the journey.

Guyana Power and Light (GPL) visited the family on Monday morning even as the live power line remained on the ground behind a cordon. The power company is in the process of installing new electrical poles in the area. The family is calling on the authorities to investigate the incident.
