Land of Canaan pensioner trailed, robbed

A PENSIONER of Land of Canaan Village, East Bank of Demerara (EBD) was tied up and robbed Friday night after two armed bandits pounced on him while he exited his vehicle PSS 1375–a grey CRV.

Reports indicate that the 78-year-old was returning home after going to a bank on the EBD when he was confronted.

Upon leaving his vehicle, a handgun was pointed at him and he was led inside his home. The bandits then tied the pensioner up with his belt and began ransacking the home.
The robbers collected a quantity of electronics, grocery, liquor, suitcases, the pensioner’s passport and an undisclosed sum of cash. The bandits then took the CRV and escaped with the valuables.

The pensioner, after managing to untie himself, alerted the police. His CRV was later recovered at the Soesdyke junction and was taken into police custody as investigations continue.
