THE Essequibo/Coast and Pomeroon Senior Football tournament continued last Sunday at the Anna Regina Community Centre ground in Essequibo.
Hosts Henrietta United FC took the opportunity to unleash goals galore against Super XI and registered a 14-1 triumph. Goals emerged as early as in the 6th minute off the boot of Devon Romeo who followed up with another in the 14th minute.
The onslaught continued when Sheldon Pitt hammered in his first in the 20th minute and, like Romeo, he followed with another in the 23rd. Both strikers continued to terrorise the opposition with swift footwork and dapper skills.
It was Romeo again on the score sheet as he netted in the 31st minute. Captain Chris Gordon then got into the action with a neatly-timed shot in the 33rd minute. As halftime approached, goals found the back of the net with regularity as Pitt found the net in the 36th and 39th minutes to register 4 goals in the match.
He was surpassed, however, by Romeo who scored again in the 46th minute to lead Henrietta United to 9-0 at halftime. When play resumed, it was Romeo again netting in the 50th minute and ending with 6 goals when he blasted his last in the 63rd minute.
Not to be left out of the display, Jim Jones scored in the 74th, Kester Ward in the 83rd and Ariel Chester in the 86th minute.
Then in the 92nd minute Super XI got a penalty and Trevor Morales scored. Moments later, referee Ranzolin Durga blew the whistle to end the game 14-1 in favour of Henrietta United FC.
More matches are set for next weekend at various venues along the Essequibo Coast. (Elroy Stephney)
