Barber denies ‘aiding to traffic cocaine’

A 32-YEAR-OLD South Ruimveldt, Georgetown barber was on Tuesday charged and released on $200,000 bail by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan for aiding to traffic cocaine.

José Jacobs of Festival City is charged with aiding persons to traffic 1.178 kilograms of cocaine between November 1, 2017 and November 21, 2017 at Georgetown. He denied the charge.

Jacobs’ attorney, Melville Duke told the court that his client had no knowledge of the cocaine or the particulars of the charge. Duke, during an application for bail told the court that his client was entrusted by his cousin to pick up ‘transaction’ monthly on their behalf.

Police Prosecutor, Gordon Mansfield did not disclose the facts in court nor object to bail being granted.

The Magistrate released Jacobs on $200,000 bail and adjourned the matter until January 31.
