MOMENTS after complaining to a local hotelier of feeling unwell, Rajpaul Mahadeo of the twin-island republic, Trinidad and Tobago, died at the New Amsterdam Hospital while receiving medical treatment.
The septuagenarian, a regular visitor to the Ancient County, had, as customary, booked into the hotel on December 30, 2017, to welcome the new year.
Astor Hotelier Mohanie Persaud reported that shortly after 21: 00hrs on Saturday, her guest informed her that he was experiencing pain in the neck and, as a result, she requested that her son Bryan accompany him to the New Amsterdam Hospital.
While receiving medical attention, the 71-year-old man passed away.
His passport, clothing, jewellery and cash are in the possession of the Sergeant in Charge of Central Police Station.
The body is at the Arokium Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem.
