EIGHT charitable organisations have each received G$50,000 worth of gift vouchers from Giftland Office Max during the Christmas season, as the company sought to put smiles on the faces of the underprivileged.
The recipients are: Bless the Home, St John Bosco Orphanage, Shaheed Boys, Shaheed Girls, Mahaica Children’s Home, Joshua House Children Centre, Red Cross and the Palms Rehabilitation Facility.
The contributions, which amounted to G$400,000, were made to organisations thought to be lacking adequate public support, says Graphics and Media Coordinator, Arian Brown.
The presentation ceremony was done on December 22 at the department store’s Plantation Pattensen, Turkeyen location.
In 2016, Giftland raised G$512,000 which was divided amongst and donated to 10 local charities. This year’s undertaking, however, was self-funded by the company.
According to a release issued by the company, the act of giving back is one which is greatly supported by the establishment’s head.
“This has been a tradition within the company, and the deepest request of our Chairman Mr. Roy Beepat, since one of his pillars is to always give back to the community and had made this a must for the company,” the release said.
The company says it intends to continue its annual donations as well as other contributions to the Guyanese society.
