A 37-year-old miner was on Wednesday remanded to prison by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan for the capital offence of murder.

Vivie Harris was not required to plead to the indictable charge which alleged that on December 20 at Waramuri Mission, Moruca River, he murdered Rondea Peters, called ‘Ninja.’
The unrepresented man was remanded to prison until January 3, when the matter will be recalled at the Acquero Magistrate’s Court
According to police reports, on the day in question, the two men were consuming alcohol when Peters left the table. When he returned, he was accused of stealing two bottles of high wine. A scuffle later ensued between him and one of his accusers. He was stabbed at least five times to the body.
