OWEN Travis Carrington, 22, a Guyana Defence Force officer (GDF) stationed at the Band Room, Camp Ayanganna, died in an accident along the Houston Public Road, East Bank Demerara, on Sunday.

According to reports, Carrington, of Isaacs Street, Den Amstel, West Coast Demerara, was proceeding south along the western side of the (eastern carriageway) of the Houston Public Road at a fast rate of speed swerving in and out of the traffic.
It is alleged that while Carrington was negotiating a left turn he started to overtake the line of traffic and in the process of doing so, the left handle bar struck an unknown vehicle and he lost control of the motor cycle.

The motorcycle skidded, ended up on the western side of the road and collided with the right side of PPP 5567, which was being driven by Marissa Sawh.
As a result of the collision, the motor cyclist received injuries to his head and was pronounced dead at the scene.
It is reported that the driver of the motor cycle was not wearing a helmet at the time. The driver of the motorcar is in police custody and is assisting with the investigation.
