Kensington Oval to host Sri Lanka Test for first time

ST JOHN’S, Antigua (CMC) – Sri Lanka will play at historic Kensington Oval for the first time when they tour the Caribbean for a three-Test series next June.
The Asian side have played three series in the Caribbean without visiting the ground, loosely referred to as the ‘Mecca’ of cricket in the region.

Sri Lanka will face West Indies in the opening Test at Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain from June 6 to 10 before travelling to Bridgetown for the second Test starting four days later.
The tourists will wrap up the series with the third and final Test at the Darren Sammy Cricket Ground in St Lucia, bowling off June 23.
Prior to the series, Sri Lanka will play a three-day match starting May 30 at the Brian Lara Stadium.

On their previous tour of the Caribbean, Sri Lanka have played six Tests, winning just one, losing three and drawing two.
In their last visit to the Caribbean nine years ago, they managed a 1-1 draw in a two-Test series with Sri Lanka winning the first Test at Providence and the Windies hitting back at Queen’s Park Oval.
