Buzzing this Weekend

THIS weekend there is a mixture events for persons of all ages and tastes.

One of the biggest concerts will be held at the National Stadium this weekend – the Smile Guyana Concert. It’s all Guyanese have been talking about and the date is finally here!

For all those foodies out there, Guyana Restaurant Week begins today! From November 17-26, visit any of the 14 participating restaurants and indulge in the finest cuisine at the most affordable cost! You will also have the chance to be part of fun competitions and win exciting prizes! Ensure that you take this weekend and the following days to treat your tummy at Guyana Restaurant Week

The National Drama Festival kicks off this weekend. The National Drama Festival is an annual showcase of some of Guyana’s best talent in theatre arts. The event will last from November 18-22 and all plays will be staged at the National Cultural Centre. The best part about it is that admission to all plays is free! So if you are looking to have a quiet weekend and immerse yourself in theatre, then the National Drama Festival is the place to be!

Tomorrow
GTT brings you Smile Guyana” featuring renowned reggae artiste Chronixx at the National Stadium, Providence. Admission: $3,000 (Pay $3,500 at the gate). This event promises to be a big one so ensure that you get your tickets early!

The National Drama festival kicks off at the National Cultural Centre with ‘Next Door Neighbour’ written by Sidney Henry. Showtime is 19:00 hrs. Admission is free!
The International arm of the Rotaract Club of Stabroek presents Zumba Workout – A Race for FITNESS! This activity joins the Rotary District’s focus on Childhood Education. It is noted that major cities in Brazil such as Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo suffer from high levels of children living on the streets, who do not have access to childhood education.

Zumba Workout is a fundraising event to help purchase Portuguese text books for children in need in neighbouring Brazil. Please support. Event begins at 17:00hrs. Admission: $500. The August Beverage Family brings you a Dancehall Street Jam. Music will be provided by popular local DJs. Food and Beverages will be on sale. Come out and get your dancehall on! Venue: August Beverages, Norton and Creen Streets. Party starts at 18:00hrs.

Sunday
The National Drama Festival continues with the staging of two plays at the National Cultural Centre: ‘Hidden Secrets’ at 19:00 hrs and ‘Daddy I am A Boy’ at 20:30 hrs. Admission is free!

Everything Makes Craft brings you a Sunday filled with creativity at its first ever Cardmaker’s Brunch from 11:00hrs to 14:00hrs at the Pegasus Hotel. Hat, Heels and Pearls are welcome as you chat, sip coffee or wine and learn to make the most beautiful Cards! Cost: $8,000  All materials provided. Brunch included. Take home: 6-12 finished Cards!
