… Vieira, Jeffrey crowned champion drivers.

IT was nothing short of an epic day at the South Dakota Racing Circuit when the final leg of the Seaboard Marine Caribbean Motor Racing Championships concluded on Sunday.
The near 20 000 fans at the South Dakota facility were treated to a spectacular day of racing over the weekend, complete with SR3 Radical displays and drifting action.
Meanwhile on track, it was all Mark Vieira in his RX8 who swept the all-wheel drive class of the Caribbean Motor Racing championship.

Vieira with two wins and one second place finish beat out Mark Maloney of Barbados who only picked up one podium finish.
In the four-wheel drive class, the man who dominated was Kristian Jeffrey and his Mitsubishi Evolution, after a racing incident put Barbados’ Roger Mayers and his Ford Focus out of contention early.

Mayers and Jeffrey were battling for the lead in the first race when the Barbadian had his plans to sneak up on the inside thwarted by the Guyanese, resulting in his being forced into the sand and Jeffrey retiring a lap later. Rupie Shewjattan took race one with Jeffrey returning for races two and three.

In Group three, a smash-and-grab performance by Vishok Persaud ensured that his Lotus ran unbeaten throughout the day, with Stefan Jeffrey finishing second until he damaged his gear box before the final race.
In Group two, there were wins for Chet Singh (Race 1), Shairaz Roshandin (Race 2) and Mark Thompson (Race 3).

The Beharry Starlet cup saw two wins for Rameez Mohamed after he had lost the race the previous day to Anand Ramchand.
The Sports Tuner class was picked up by Daniel Deokie who continued his dominance in the class by sweeping it with Anand Ramchand picking up second twice and Mohamed Ahmad second as well.

The Street Tuner was dominated by Roshan Ali who picked up two firsts and one second-place finish while Narine Dasrat had the reverse.
The ship carrying the Trinidadian cars arrived in Guyana on Sunday and were given priority unloading and transportation to the track with the help of the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA).
A cocktail reception to announce the CMRC winners was held last night.
