A MAN was stabbed to death on Tuesday afternoon at North Ruimveldt, Georgetown, by another man during a fight.
Dead is Hafeez Douglas, 27, of North Ruimveldt, Georgetown. His attacker, who was identified as 26-year-old Jermaine Abel, also of North Ruimveldt, is in police custody. It is alleged that Douglas and his brother were having an argument at a shop when Abel intervened, causing another argument. Abel and Douglas then began to scuffle, during which Douglas was stabbed several times about the body with a sharp metal instrument.
Douglas fell onto the roadway in front of a shop and was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Residents expressed their outrage at the suspect when he was about to leave the North Ruimveldt outpost escorted by police. His mother, Alter Douglas, said she had an argument with her son earlier in the day and she warned him of his behaviour, not realising later in the day he would be killed. “Is my son, I said when he come home I would have forgiven he, now look what happened,” she said in tears.
