At the end of the cooking, in which 18 participants had gathered to showcase their culinary skills, NTN’s Channel 18/69 Bramhma Prasad was declared the winner.

Prasad, who’d won thrice before and placed second once, walked away with $240,000 in cash, a trophy, three months’ data plan and a hamper.

In second place was Purndai Darpat of Number 65 Village, Corentyne, who was presented $140,000 in cash, a trophy, a hamper, and a three-month data plan. His team also won the prize of $40,000, for best presentation.

Coming in at third place was Robert Singh of the Curry Crew from Happy Acres, East Coast Demerara, who was awarded $120,000 in cash, a hamper, and a three-month data plan.

The fourth place was a tie between Stanley Rampersaud of Berbice and Avinash Narine of Haslington, both of whom were gifted $100,000 each, a hamper each and three months data plan each.

There were 13 consolation prize winners who each got $10,000.

According to Digicel Guyana’s Public Relations Manager, Vidya Bijlal-Sanichara, this year’s participants came from far and wide, from all the way on the East Coast of Demerara, West Coast Demerara, Georgetown, and Berbice.

For the Devanands, who hail from Stewartville, on the West Demerara, they were there as a family just for the fun of it.

As for Seeranie Bachan and her family, it was their first time at the event and they journeyed all the way from Enmore, on the East Coast, to try their hands at curried duck.

The Calypso Hut Posse had a much decorated table of goodies and other dishes for sampling, and that group was in high spirits on Sunday, stating that while they did not win last year, they had still fancied their chances this time around.
