Dear Editor
DID Mr. Deodat Sharma and the Audit Office of Guyana ever investigate Gocool Boodoo procurement transactions after a Regional & General Elections? Mr. Sharma is accusing the present CEO, Mr. Keith Lowenfield of over stocking toners.
For the records Mr. Boodoo purchased $25,000,000 in janitorial supplies for the 2006 General Elections from a company set up by Mike Brasse name Tri Star, which was registered at the Deeds Registry after supplying GECOM with the most expensive janitorial items all of these supplies were dumped at Coldingen. Strange enough Mr. Sharma did not recommend a police investigation.
Remember this company was registered after delivering the supplies to GECOM and 25,000,000 dollars was a Cabinet decision. Now Mr. Sharma is asking the Police to investigate GECOM for the purchase of toners, which were needed to print the voters list for an election that had a time limit.
Are procurement regulations more important than preventing insurrection?
Mr. Lowenfield acted in the best interest of the Nation. This was not a purchase for 25,000,000 in janitorial supplies, which was left to waste at Coldingen. So what really bogles the mind is procurement breaches the real focus at GECOM or the present management that the PPP is accusing of rigging the 2015 regional and general elections. The public needs to pay urgent attention to Mr. Sharma GECOM finding, since Gocool Boodoo is not the Accounting Officer.
In my next article, I will deal with Mr. Sharma’s refusal to call in the police for the purchase of OKI DATA Toners from Mike Brasse Mobile Authority in 2008.
Regards,
Former GECOM employee
