WEST Indies batting star Chris Gayle could miss the rest of the team’s One Day International (ODI) series after suffering a hamstring injury.
Gayle, who is celebrating his 38th birth anniversary, was ruled out of the second match at Trent Bridge yesterday, with scans expected to confirm the severity of the injury suffered during the first ODI at Old Trafford.
The batsman, who scored 37 during the first fixture, did come out to warm up ahead of the second match but reported to team captain Jason Holder that he had aggravated the injury just ahead of the toss.
“Chris Gayle came to me before the toss and said he was feeling something in his hamstring,” Holder told BBC Radio’s Test Match Special.
“Hopefully it’s not something too serious and it’s a precaution.
“He came to me as I was walking up to the coin so I don’t know the extent of the injury,” the all-rounder added.
The batsman only recently returned to playing the format following an almost two-year absence, after regulations put in place by the-then West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) ruled many of the team’s senior players out of contention for selection. (Sportsmax.com)
