A DIAMOND, East Bank Demerara resident was on Friday remanded to prison for the alleged murder of 36-year-old Aliston Henry who was beaten to death at a wedding house at Grove.
Rajen Dindial appeared before City Magistrate Judy Latchman and was not required to plead to the indictable charge. It is alleged that Dindial on September 3, 2017 at Sarran Street Grove, East Bank Demerara, murdered Aliston Henry.
The unrepresented man was remanded to court until September 18 and will reappear before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan. According to reports, on the day in question, while at the wedding house celebration, Henry had a misunderstanding with Dindial and pushed down a portable toilet which was nearby.
The accused became annoyed and armed himself with a wooden food paddle and dealt Henry several lashes about his body. The injured man was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
