A 22-year-old East Ruimveldt, Georgetown man was on Friday released on $100,000 bail by City Magistrate Judy Latchman for allegedly wounding his cousin with a glass bottle.
It is alleged that Michael Sam on August 22, 2017, at East Ruimveldt, unlawfully and maliciously wounded Rawle Welcome. He denied the charge.
According to reports, Sam and Welcome are cousins. On the day in question, Welcome visited Sam at East Ruimveldt. However, there was an argument between the two cousins after Sam asked to borrow Welcome’s bike and was refused.
The accused, who then became annoyed ,armed himself with a broken glass bottle and stabbed Welcome to his face. Police Prosecutor Vishnu Hunt made no objection to the accused being released on bail.
The matter was transferred to Magistrate Leron Daily for September 15.
