A HOMELESS man was on Friday, sentenced to three years in prison by Magistrate Leron Daly on a charge of malicious wounding.
According to the police, on June 26, 2017, along Charlotte Street, Georgetown, Devon Jackson wounded Marlon Mohammad.
The particulars of the charge alleged that on June 26, 2017, at about 19:00hrs Mohammad was lying on a cardboard on the pavement along Charlotte Street, Georgetown, in the vicinity of Beharry Automotive when he was approached and instructed by Jackson to get up. Mohammad then told Jackson that one of his legs has a cut and he is not in the position to stand.
However, Jackson who held a cutlass proceeded to hit Mohamed about his body with the cutlass. In addition, the defendant then took the cutlass and cut the pants that the victim was wearing. The defendant went on kicking and hitting Mohammad about his body. Mohammad was then carried to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) by an ambulance. Jackson was arrested and charged for the offence which he pleaded guilty to.
