The 22-year-old proved to be his worst enemy when his Facebook page showed a table stacked with millions of dollars in thousand dollar bills wrapped in rubber bands. Elton Wray, 24, and his accomplices identified as Jamal Haynes, a Republic Bank staff member and cousin, Keron Saunders, were arrested after a botched robbery at the Bank.

Wray was killed in the incident and soon after it was revealed that he had recently secured a loan from the said institution to purchase his Nissan Juke automobile, which he had parked in South Ruimveldt while attacking the bank. He had studied in China on a government scholarship, obtaining a degree and worked at the National Agriculture Research and Extension Institute (NAREI) as an agronomist. Reports indicate that Wray was planning to visit his girlfriend in the U.S., but he did not have sufficient funds to make the trip.

Police said three firearms, including two 9 MM handguns and one .40 gun were found. The case is being investigated by ranks of the Major Crimes Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) OF THE Guyana Police Force (GPF)

The gun Saunders posted on Facebook since 2012.

Meanwhile, the Police have made a successful application to the High Court for permission to further detain the suspects involved in the botched robbery for another 72 hours. Public Security Minister, Khemraj Ramjattan, said that the Government was cognisant of the fact that much more needed to be done to turn the tide against youths who turn to crime. The Minister revealed that the Government would be hosting a “crime and youth violence forum” at the Pegasus Hotel on July 12, 2017 to address the issue.
